First brewed in 1985, this Belgium strong pale ale from Dolle Brouwers (Mad Brewers) replaces their former blond ale called Oeral. Ara is a bread of macaw parrot, hence the colourful cartoon-like label. Generously hopped and dry hopped using locally grown Nugget hops.
Sampled on 10/06/2012
Cloudy, sandy amber with thick, long lasting white head and spotted lacing.
Doughy yet crusty French baguette spread honey, rosemary and slightly earthy pear skin.
Full bodied and very complex. Dry and malty with light black pepper spice, earthy herbal flavours, citrus and not quite ripe conference pear.
Malty with lingering herbs and spices.
