The Booth family started distilling in 1740 when they built a distillery in London’s Clerkenwell. Although now made in Illinois, this date is referenced on Booth’s modern label which also retains the brand red lion logo, confirming Booth’s to be the oldest gin brand still in existence.
Sampled on 14/07/2012
Clear, transparent.
Clean with juniper pine, lavender and camphor. Subtle notes of sage, celery and chewing gum (Dentine). Subdued citrus notes.
Classic juniper led London Dry Gin palate with hints of liquorice but little in the way of citrus evident.
Dry pine-ey juniper and orris. A well-made good value traditional styled gin.
