The younger, darker sibling to Moinette Blonde, first brewed in 1986 this brune is also twice fermented and brewed in traditional copper boilers datinhg from 1920.
Sampled on 23/08/2012
(July-12) Cloudy, dark red-brown amber with thick ivory two finger head and heavy lacing.
Oaky fudge, yeast, dark fruit and caster sugar.
Yeasty shortbread with red wine-like fruitiness and tannins.
Toasty, piney, herbaceous bitterness. The intensity of flavour and high alcohol content make this a food beer rather than a session ale.
