This golden ale is named in memory of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s fated atmospheric system designed to propel trains on the South Devon Railway. Pistons were forced along a pipe sealed by leather valves but this proved an unreliable seal and the system was finally abandoned in September 1848.

(best before Apr-13) Clear, coppery amber with thin large bubbled white head.
Lightly nutty, saddle leather and toasted bread.
Subdued flavour of caramel, hay and toasted bread with light herbal grassy hops.
Some light fruity notes in a toasted hot cross bun finish.
