Product of: Philippines
Known in the Philippines (this gin's domestic market) as GSM, Ginebra S. Miguel is the world's best-selling gin brand. A fact all the more incredible as, if you're not from the Philippines, then you've probably not even heard of it, yet alone tried a GSM&T made with it.
Sales of Ginebra S. Miguel account for over 40 per cent of the global gin market but that phenomenal volume comes largely from domestic sales in the gin-loving Philippines where it boasts an over-60 per cent share of the total spirits market.
Ginebra S. Miguel was established in 1834 and, as the name would suggest, it is made by Ginebra San Miguel Inc., a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation, makers of the eponymous beer.
Review and Tasting

Subdued nose with little discernible juniper but faint high alcohol spirit notes – possibly butanone.
Slightly sweet palate with a mildly syrupy mouthfeel (glycerine perhaps?). While slightly hidden on the nose, juniper is very apparent on the palate – almost one-dimensionally so, with cracked black pepper spirit being the only other notable flavour.
Not unpleasant juniper finish with a perceived creaminess but lacking complexity.
