Released in in October 2012, this Speyside malt is aged in American oak ex-fino sherry and ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled without chill-filtration or caramel colouring.

The etched silver label features the Speyburn Leaping Salmon logo, a reference to the distillery drawing its water from the Granty Burn, a tributary of the River Spey, famous for its salmon fishing.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 12/11/2012

Appearance:

Clear, mid golden amber.

Aroma:

Old apple boxes and leathery vanilla with pear skin and cider with rubbed mint leaves, subtle cinnamon and nutmeg spice.

Taste:

Pleasing sherry notes meat American toasted coconut with a flavour explosion of apple and stewed pear, roasted nuts with root ginger and red peppercorn spice.

Aftertaste:

Barley and burnt sultana sherry notes vie for attention in the apple and leather finish with chocolate, coffee and lingering minty freshness.
