Inspired by the hoppy beers at the 2005 Anchorage Barley Wine Festival, Urthel’s Hop-It is a strong Belgian ale made using three European Nobel hops and Pilsner malt. It is top fermented with secondary-fermentation in the bottle.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/11/2012

Appearance:

(best before Jan-15), Cloudy, pale amber with thick, fluffy white head, leaving heavy lacing.

Aroma:

Cracked white pepper corns and malty cereal with wet papier-mâché flour, black salt and grassy hops.

Taste:

Light peppery spicy on a malty full-bodied palate. The high alcohol content is noticeable but deceptively subdued. Resinous hop bitterness.

Aftertaste:

Peppery pine hops and malty cereal.
