Named after Heston Blumenthal and part of the eponymous celebrity chef’s range of products sold through Britain’s Waitrose supermarket, this gin is flavoured with juniper, almond, coriander, lavender and angelica at Chase Distillery and is based on their potato spirit and infused with earl grey tea.

According to Heston, “This gin has a fantastic balance of earthy, aromatic notes of bergamot and a citrusy tang of lemon.” Launched November 2012.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/12/2012

Appearance:

Translucent but with off-putting small and medium snow storm-like white particles in suspension.

Aroma:

Pungent bergamont, kaffir lime, lime zest, lemon verbena and thyme.

Taste:

Astringent spruce needles and pine sap with lime zest and tea tannin wormwood-like bitterness.

Aftertaste:

Lingering tannic bergamot and citrus bitterness. Sampled neat or in a Martini then the tea tannins are too dominant but mix with tonic water and you’ll find yourself with an Earl Grey flavoured G&T.
