A blend of pot still and continuously distilled rums made from molasses, aged up to 24 years in bourbon barrels and port wine casks before being blended in Florida using a solera aging and blending process. The blend is finished in casks previously seasoned with Spanish sherry.

Its makers say Papa’s Pilar Rum is inspired by Ernest Hemingway the writer and adventurer, known in Cuba as Papa. Pilar refers to Pilar in Key West where on 12th May 1934 Ernest Hemingway took delivery of a custom built Playboy Cruiser from Wheeler Shipyards in Brooklyn, New York.

Appearance:

Clear, deep coppery amber.

Aroma:

Pungent cinnamon, vanilla and toasty oak with delicate smoky note.

Taste:

Slightly sweet and very fruity with upfront cinnamon spice. Crème brûlée, maple syrup, poached pear, toffee and orange zest.

Aftertaste:

Vanilla and lightly buttery toasty oak finish. Lingering aniseed freshness.
