Launched in 1988 to celebrate Brugal’s centenary, 1888 is first aged in American oak ex-whiskey barrels with a small proportion also aged in first-fill sherry butts before vatting and finishing for a further period in American whiskey barrels. The total aging period is between 14 and 16 years.

Appearance:

Clear, dark coppery amber.

Aroma:

Sherry is very evident with dark cacao, dried fruit, toffee-apple-like, almost calvados aromas along with Brugal’s signature mocha coffee.

Taste:

Full-bodied with sweet vanilla, toffee and liquorice balanced by dry cinnamon spiced oak.

Aftertaste:

Fruity toffee notes continue into the finish with drier oaky tannins.
