The bottle proclaims Hiver to be “Inspired by the bees and beekeepers of urban London and rural England. It is brewed by Hepworth Brewery in Sussex with urban and rural honey and organic malt. Hiver is said to have a “long maturation” but no specific period is stated. Bottled without pasteurisation.
Sampled on 15/03/2014
Clear, pale golden amber with thin white head.
Honeycomb with bready, yeasty notes and pine forest hops.
Honey notes are well integrated with biscuity beer flavours. Light-bodied with a crisp bite – the honey has contributes flavour but little discernible sweetness.
Pilsner lager-like finish with the merest hint of honey.
