Like other Belvedere flavoured vodkas, Bloody Mary is made by steeping tomato, horseradish, black pepper, red pepper, chilli pepper, lemon and vinegar in the vodka, then redistilling separately and blending together. Unusually, Belvedere do not use off-the-shelf essences or flavourings.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 01/12/2012

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Freshly cracked black pepper and horseradish with tomato ketchup.

Taste:

Warm, rather than fiery red pepper with creamy horseradish and tomato driven umami flavour. Strangely reminiscent of Walkers Tomato Ketchup potato crisps.

Aftertaste:

Tomato and white wine vinegar with lasting pepper spice. The spice level may taste too mild for some Mary drinkers who are likely to be reaching for the tobacco and Worcestershire Sauce but the elegant spice comes through fabulously in a Bloody Mary made by just adding tomato juice.
