In 1924, schoolteacher Frank Stewart opened his first Stewart's Root Beer stand which was soon followed by his first Stewart's Drive-in. Stewart's Root Beer only became available in bottles 66 years later when Cable Car Beverage Corporation acquired the bottling rights in 1990.
Stewart’s Root Beer is now part of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group.
Sampled on 02/06/2014
Clear, deep tawny brown. Ring of tan foam rather than retentive head.
Reminiscent of a cross between old-fashioned antiseptic and Vic’s decongestant with notes of clove and vanilla.
Syrupy sweet. Sarsaparilla, clove and liquorice with vanilla and buttery toffee.
Sweetness disappears to leave lingering sarsaparilla, clove and liquorice
