Named after the company’s Chairman, Paul John single malt whiskies are distilled in Goa, India from Indian 6-row barley grown on the Himalayan foothills. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, edited also uses imported peated Scottish barley (around 15% of the blend) and bottled at cask strength.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 19/11/2014
Appearance:
Clear, golden amber.
Aroma:
Honey, new leather, vanilla, custard cream biscuit, toasted almond, apricot with bark and herbal complexity. More toasty with water.
Taste:
Elegantly oaked with mildly bitter tannins, mild spice and delicate earthy peat balanced by light honeyed sweetness. Water amplifies bitterness upsetting honey balance.
Aftertaste:
Lightly spiced with bitter wood tannins and lingering black pepper.
