Auchentoshan Valinch is the non chill-filtered, cask strength edition of Auchentoshan Classic, and this is the first of what will become an annual limited release (2,000 cases for this first release).

Like all other Auchentoshan malts, this lowland malt is triple distilled and like the Classic, the Valinch has no age statement.

The name comes from the tool, valinch, which is usually made of copper and used like a pipette to draw whisky straight from the cask to assess how it is maturing.

Appearance:

Clear, pale/straw golden appearance.

Aroma:

Just milled barley with buttery, barbeque grill, sawn balsa wood, stewed apple juice nose with light acacia honey/vanilla and a hint of roasted coconut.

Taste:

(hydrated to approx. 43%) Light, intensely flavoured fruity, creamy fresh barley with cracked black pepper bite and rounding water biscuit and vanilla custard flavours.

Aftertaste:

Lasting barley with roasted almond and coconut.
