A strong (whopping 9.2% alc./vol.) imperial porter brewed by Brew by Numbers in London’s Bermondsey where it is aged in Jim Beam oak barrels. Unfiltered, unpasteurised and bottle-conditioned so expect a yeast sediment. Hence, store upright and pour slowly.
Sampled on 11/04/2015
Opaque, deep deep brown, virtually black with retentive tan head and good lacing.
Caramel, coal dust, mocha coffee and bourbon.
Mocha coffee, toasted malt, woody liquorice and bourbon with light black pepper spice.
Dry wood tannins, tobacco leaf, bourbon, dark chocolate and espresso coffee. Leaves a sticky sweetness on the lips.
Rich and yet dry. Roasted malt, charcoal and mocha coffee.
