Launched in 2008, Somersby cider is owned by Carlsberg and was originally developed from the company's home Danish market. Somersby has since been released in various other countries including the UK where it is produced by Carlsberg in Herefordshire.

Despite its Danish origins, Somersby cider is named after a fictional British Lord, ‘Lord Somersby’. The brand has no connection to the English village of Somersby, Lincolnshire.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 13/04/2015

Appearance:

(sample best before 24/Nov/15) Clear, bright golden yellow with persistent large bubbles.

Aroma:

Aromatic fresh green apple.

Taste:

Lightly carbonated zingy fresh green apple. Slightly sweet with almost balancing acidity.

Aftertaste:

Crisp green apple and faint acidity.

Overall:

More reminiscent of sweetened apple juice than a ‘true’ cider but Somersby Cider Apple’s clean, zingy apple freshness will appeal to young drinkers.
