Distilled in steam heated alembic copper stills using full-bodied red wines from grape varieties including Merlot, Cabernet and Refosco, from Italy's Fruili wine region. After distillation the eau-de-vie is aged in Slavonian oak barrels in Tosolini's underground cellars.

Vecchio 800 is presented in a vintage looking decanter bottle held in a wooden case with a certificate of ageing showing the vintage year.

Appearance:

(sample bottle 1985 vintage) Clear, pale to mid-golden amber.

Aroma:

Very aromatic with buttery floral aromas, cream-of-soda vanilla, tobacco leaf and very mild spice.

Taste:

Slightly sweet honeyed grape juice, vanilla, honeysuckle and dry spicy buttery oak.

Aftertaste:

Buttery oak, red grapes, black pepper, drying tannins and long lingering spice.

Overall:

Wonderfully aromatic with buttery floral notes throughout, rich vanilla is balanced by spicy woody tannins.
