Fully named “Shine On Georgia Moon”, this is rare example of an unaged “Corn Whiskey”. American corn whiskies must be at least 81% corn grain in the mashbill and may be aged in new uncharred or used charred barrels. Georgia Moon proudly declares its being aged “less than 30 days old” on its label.
Georgia Moon name references moonshine distillers of corn whiskey operating their stills by moonlight as the smoke emitted would give them away by day. The mason jar-style bottle is also a reference to moonshine corn whiskey. (The wide bottle is also hard to pour from and the screw cap difficult t properly reseal.)
