Pronounced 'Hack-shoo', meaning 'white sand bar', opened in 1973, Suntory's Hakushu is the largest malt distillery in the world. It is situated in a dense forest at the foot of Mount Kaikomagatake in the southern Japanese Alps near the town of Hokuto in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Appearance:

Clear, golden.

Aroma:

Honeyed, toasted cereal nose with toasted nut aromas, pear and baked ripe banana.

Taste:

Superbly structured palate with toasted grain, poached pear fruit, nutty flavours and gentle smoke in harmony.

Aftertaste:

Toasty malty finish with nutty fruit and a hint of ginger spice.
