Guido Isolabella created the first bottle of Isolabella Sambuca in Milan, Italy in 1871. Today it is made by Illva Saronno, better known for producing DiSaronno, the famous amaretto liqueur.
Sampled on 29/10/2012
Crystal clear.
Subdued nose compared to some other sambucas. Clean anise, liquorice and fennel with black peppery alcohol.
Very sweet with clean, rich aniseed, strong liquorice and hints of Parma Violets.
Aggressive peppery alcohol burn. This sambuca is clean and straight forward with strong, sweet aniseed, perhaps lacking subtle complexity.
