Ferrand Pineau des Charentes is a traditional French vin de liqueur made by blending freshly pressed white grape juice from the Charente region with cognac, a process that naturally preserves the fruit's sweetness while adding structure.

Produced predominantly from Ugni Blanc, with small proportions of Folle Blanche and Colombard, the blend is matured in oak barrels for at least 18 months, allowing the grape must and cognac to combine harmoniously to produce a refined aperitif.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 06/08/2026

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Acacia honey, honeysuckle blossom and ripe apricot.

Taste:

Honeyed richness is balanced by gentle acidity with tart apricot, roasted almond, vanilla and delicate toasty oak.

Aftertaste:

Lingering dried apricot, acacia honey and cleansing acidity.

Overall:

Great as a cocktail ingredient, and with its fruitiness and oxidative maturity, this Pineau is fantastic when served with creamy cheeses, fruit-based desserts and pâté.
