Launched in October 2009, like all of Glengoyne’s Single Malts, this 12 year old addition to the core range is made with unpeated barley but unusually for Glengoyne, 25% of the casks used are first-fill ex-bourbon. This is the first Glengoyne to use bourbon wood in one of its core range bottlings.
Sampled on 07/10/2012
Bright golden in colour.
Malty lemon barley water, chamois leather and coconut oil with lemon zest, shortbread, honeycomb and floral honeysuckle.
Slightly sweet with an oily, creamy mouth feel, new leather and shortbread, good sherried notes, white pepper and gingerbread. Oaky notes emerge towards the end turning the palate dry.
Continues the dry theme with barley shortbread, delicate oils and lingering sherry. Faint rubbery note emerges. Judiciously used sherry - great value for money.
