Released in 2020, this third incarnation of The Whiskymaker's Reserve was matured in PX, oloroso, and cream sherry casks along with red wine casks.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Clear, mid-deep golden amber.

Aroma:

There's a pleasant whiff of joss stick, chocolate, dried fruit, maple syrup, honey and toasty wood with delicate ripe strawberry. With water, honey, spiced oak and zesty orange.

Taste:

Salted caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg and toasty oak with rich honey and maple. Delicate dried, berry and citrus fruit emerges with water.

Aftertaste:

Dry spiced oak finish.

Overall:

Rich honey and maple syrup offset dry oak tannins. Its strength demands a splash of water but this strips some of its pleasing sherry richness.
