This KI NO BI gin is distinguished by its botanicals including Gyokuro & Tencha teas. Tencha are the green tea leaves that when ground into a fine powder become Matcha, while Gyokuro is a green tea grown shaded from the strength of the full sun.
The tea leaves used are harvested in the Okunoyama tea yard which dates back to 1300s and this gin is produced with the help and collaboration or tea-grower and blender, Hori-Shichimeien, based in the famous Uji tea region to the south of Kyoto city.

Crystal clear.
Scents of Matcha and black tea leaves sit over piney juniper with faint lemon.
Delicately sweet Matcha tea before dry piney juniper muscles in and more classic dry gin flavours prevail, underpinned by tea complexity with citrus and faint cut glass.
Long dry finish with lingering Matcha tea.
Tea is held in such reverence in Japan that it's a particularly fitting botanical to feature in a Japanese gin. Matcha tea imparts wonderfully aromatic scents and delicate sweetness to this complex and refined dry gin.
