Jorg Rupf and the folk at St George Spirits (the same distillery and many of the same people who make Hanger One vodka) produce this most unusual Californian whiskey by distilling smoky brown ale in a small copper pot still. This is then aged in re-fill American whiskey and French oak casks.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 08/08/2011

Appearance:

Pale gold in colour.

Aroma:

Very interesting and most un-whiskey-like nose of lychees, white peach skin and quince – almost Sauternes-like fruit.

Taste:

Drier than the nose suggests with boiled blackcurrant fruit and smoky malty notes.

Aftertaste:

Finishes with smoky flint notes. Probably best drunk at the end of a meal.
