Named after an endangered cat native to the mountain ranges of central and southern Asia, admired and hunted for its soft grey ringed spotted coat, which turns white in the winter. Snow Leopard is made from Spelt (Triticom Spella) using a "six-stage distillation process"

Snow Leopard donates 15% of its profits to the Snow Leopard Trust which works to protect the feline and its habitat. Fewer than 5,000 snow leopards remain in the wild and they are critically endangered due to being hunted for their fur and by farmers after loss of livestock. As of June 2013, the brand has donated a total of $70,000 to the charity.

Launched in 2006, Snow Leopard vodka is brainchild of former vice president of Allied Domecq, Stephen Sparrow. In February 2013 The Edrington Group acquired the brand.
