A Vermouth di Torino Rosso made according to Arnaldo Strucchi's 1907 recipe and production methods recorded in his detailed vermouth manual.

This vermouth's striking label was created by Piedmontes contemporary artist, Riccardo Guasco, who linked each of the four Stucchi products to a famous historical character, in this case Mata Hari.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 30/11/2023

Appearance:

Clear & bright, golden amber.

Aroma:

Green grapes, bay leaf and tobacco with deep herbal fragrances.

Taste:

Medium-bodied. Bittersweet with tobacco leaf, cola cubes, anise, liquorice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cleansing white pepper.

Aftertaste:

Bittersweet and long with lingering cola cubes and herbal spice.

Overall:

A brilliantly balanced, flavoursome and very versatile all-rounder "sweet vermouth" that's a conversationist rather than being shouty.
