Review and Tasting

Sampled on 05/09/2011

Appearance:

Cloudy, opaque dark brown/almost black with thick beige head.

Aroma:

Overripe banana and caramel nose with cloves, lemon zest, faint liquorice aromas.

Taste:

Chocolate and coffee delicately bitter-sweet generously flavoured palate with an incredibly creamy, mousse-like mouthfeel and cleansing peppery alcohol bite (it is 7.3% abv). Unlike some bock beers, Pikantus is balanced and far from sweet.

Aftertaste:

Malty, mocha-coffee finish with roasted salted nuts and pepper.
