Product of: Product of France France

Distilled in Dijon by Gabriel Boudier apparently using nine botanicals (although we only know of eight): juniper, coriander, lemon, orange peel, angelica seeds, iris, fennel and the eponymous saffron, which considering this gin’s colour we presume is steeped after distillation.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 29/01/2012

Appearance:

Clear, rust orange.

Aroma:

Soft rubber, car tyre-like nose with pine forest and saffron.

Taste:

Dry, palate with strong bitter orange and pine-like juniper flavours vying with the saffron and spices – a fight rather than a harmonious existence.

Aftertaste:

Dry, bitter orange and saffron finish. Also almost makes our ‘vergin’ classification (verging on being a real gin).
