This American Single Malt is double distilled from 100% malted barley using a copper pot still.

The distillate is matured for five years in ex-California wine barrels in the Arizona heat before a parcel of barrels is selected, blended and finished with a final ageing period in French oak ex-cognac casks.

Founded by fashion and lifestyle entrepreneurs Jon Buscemi and James Bond, Wolves is an American whiskey founded and made in the American West. Wolves Whiskey is considered a standard bearer in the newly emerging American Single Malt category.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Clear, deep coppery amber.

Aroma:

Malty bread, blackened fruit cake, cinnamon and nutmeg spice with toasted oak, boat varnish and blackberry.

Taste:

Toasty oak and accompanying bitter tannins, baking spices and peppery spiritous spice are mellowed by sweet, bready fruitcake and honey. This whiskey takes water well, mellowing the spice and amplifying the breadiness.

Aftertaste:

Bready fruitcake, dry oak tannins, cinnamon and black pepper spice.

Overall:

A generous, somewhat bold, but enjoyable American single malt with pleasing, rich, fruity notes balancing assertive oakiness.
