To create his gin, distiller Barney Wilczak gathered a vast library of botanicals and set about distilling each, dividing them according to the six different flavour profiles he sought to combine. These test distillations culminated in a recipe that includes 34 different botanicals.

Originally named Garden Tiger, this gin's name was changed to Garden Swift due to trademark issues.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/09/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle one of 200 bottles from batch 0001) Crystal clear. (Turns milky with water/tonic).

Aroma:

Zesty orange marmalade and tangerines, menthol, pear and cumin spice. More Indian spice notes emerge with water.

Taste:

Intensely flavoured with zesty orange to the fore with supporting spice, pine resins and herbal complexity. Cumin continues to stand out while piney juniper notes are relatively subdued but very much present.

Aftertaste:

Long fragrantly spiced finish with lingering, zesty orange, cardamom and cumin spice.

Overall:

Some will love this intensely flavoured gin while others will find the spice notes overly dominant. However, we admire Barney’s [the distiller) desire to make something other than another London dry gin with a subtle twist.
