This heavily peated Glenglassaugh expression was launched in September 2014 to sit as part of the distillery’s core range alongside Revival and Evolution. Torfa takes its name from the Old Norse language and translates as ‘turf’ or ‘peat’. Bottled at natural colour without chill-filtration.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 13/10/2014

Appearance:

Clear, yellow gold.

Aroma:

Vanilla and buttery oak with light peaty smokiness, sea air, candied ginger and cinnamon spice. Water reveals more vanilla with barbeque charcoal.

Taste:

Light sweetness counters salty peaty smoke/smoky bacon, candied orange peel, vanilla and cedarwood. Water opens and tames with smoke subsiding to reveal more saltiness.

Aftertaste:

Buttery peaty lightly spiced oak and slight saltiness.
