A limited release of 12,240 bottles (bottled in August 2016) released 1st October 2016, the 10th anniversary of Compass Box's original The Spice Tree being banned by the Scotch Whisky Association due to of "untraditional" cask maturation techniques.
Spice Tree Extravaganza comprises:
32.6% Glen Ord malt whisky aged in first fill sherry butt
17.2% Benrinnes malt whisky aged in first fill sherry butt
2.6% Allt A' Bhainne malt whisky aged in refill American standard barrel
27.7% Highland malt blend* aged in light/medium toasted hybrid cask
4.3% Highland malt blend* aged in refill hybrid cask
15.6% Highland malt blend* aged in heavily toasted hybrid cask
* The Highland malt blend comprised 60% Clynelish malt, 20% Dailuaine malt, 20% Teaninich malt. Compass Box say, "After vatting, we recask this 'Highland Malt' blend and mature it for another four and a half years in our highly active hybrid cash."
Non chill-filtered and bottled without added caramel colour.

Clear, golden amber.
Toffee fudge and caramel, brandy butter, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, sherry and leather. Water opens and amplifies.
Red apple with clove, cinnamon and black pepper spice, vanilla, sherry and dark sugar. Sweeter and even more attractive with water.
Clove spice, red apple and sherry.
Spicy – particular clove, with rich vanilla and sherry.
