Previously in the Tahona Society Competition

Since 2018, the Tahona Society Competition has evolved beyond cocktail competitions to focus on sustainability throughout the entire bar industry.

Past winners

  • In 2018, the Tahona Society prize supported the creation of a mental health network in Vancouver, Canada. This offers free therapy to members of the hospitality industry facing anxiety, addiction, or harassment. This is now expanding across Canada and is reshaping how the industry supports mental health and well-being.
  • In 2021, it enabled the winning team in Cuba to launch a range of sustainable alcohol-free cordials and mixers made from local ingredients. Born from a licensing ban, La Mata has created jobs and created a new market.
  • In 2023, the Society backed the winning Spanish team and their recycling initiative that transforms glass waste in Cartagena, a city with no recycling system. Green Apple built a local recycling centre which has united bars, reduced waste and created jobs. It is a powerful example of sustainability through community action
