"Islander" is an initiative focused on preserving the authenticity of Balinese culture through significant and rapid developments in the food and beverage industry by showcasing local ingredients at events.
As I was born and raised in Bali, I have observed significant and rapid developments in the food and beverage industry, which has prompted me to take action to preserve the authenticity of Balinese culture. I am convinced that even the smallest steps can lead to substantial change when undertaken collectively. In establishing Islander, my vision was to create a community that showcases Balinese culture through cocktail creations while fostering the growth of the Balinese community. As a bartender, I am committed to sharing my expertise with future generations and deepening my understanding of our cultural heritage by collaborating with local suppliers.
Islanders Community Heroes
The Problem: The rapid growth of the hospitality industry on our small island is causing Bali's unique culture to fade. We believe we can protect and celebrate Bali's heritage by working together.
The Opportunity: Islanders is a community dedicated to highlighting Bali's uniqueness. Through our 'Respect and Development' program, we invite young bartenders to learn about local ingredients and create unique cocktails.
The Goal: We aim to preserve our culture and support local suppliers by showcasing local ingredients at our events. This helps small businesses grow and promotes a sustainable lifestyle.
Respect and Development Chapter 1:
We feature local forager Agung from Payangan Ubud, who provides wild ingredients and preserves Balinese heritage. We collaborated with Agung to introduce his products to our drinks. Bartenders will visit Agung to learn about his products and how to use them in cocktails. We will provide ingredients from local foragers to bars for cocktail promotions, supporting Agung's business and showcasing Balinese culture.
Campaign: We invite several Bali bars to run promotions featuring local forager products and Ketel One vodka. This initiative will introduce Balinese culture to guests and ensure that every step counts.
Cocktail Inspiration: Cem Cem, loloh Cem Cem is the local elixir that Agung the forager still made through generation.
