Brothers Robert and Jonathan Likarish, founded their Ironroot Republic distillery in 2013. They named their new enterprise in the honour of horticulturist Thomas Volney Munson, a horticulturist from the distillery's home town who pioneered creating Phylloxera resistant vines by grafting European vines onto American rootstock.
