Berkshire Mountain Distillery nestles in the scenic hills of the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Established in 2007, Berkshire Mountain Distillers uses water from protected springs at the base of the mountain that rises behind the distillery.
In the 1800s a hotel was built on the property to cater to visitors who came to partake of the 'curative waters' that flowed from the spring. The hotel burnt down in the 1880s and the springs weren't commercially exploited until 1901, when 3,000 gallons a week were bottled and sold to residents in New York City to help cure their ailments.
