The Telles family have been making cachaça since 1846 when Dario Telles de Menezes arrived from Portugal and set up his distillery in the town of Maranguape. Ypioca is Brazil’s largest cachaça producer and the only major producer to use exclusively sugar cane grown on their own estates.

Ypióca operate five production plants – one in Rio Grande do Norte (Ceará-Mirim) and four in the countryside of Ceará (Pindoretama, Acarape, Paraipaba and Jaguaruana). Jaguaruanais, the most recently built, boats the latest capacity of any Brazilian distillery.
