Professor Cornelius Ampleforth is a brand name used by UK retailer Master of Malt for their own products. Rumbullion is a blended high proof Caribbean rum, flavoured with Madagascan vanilla, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.

The bottle is wrapped in crinkled brown paper, featuring a print of a hand-drawn illustration which depicts a British Navy grog tub and indeed Master of Malt claims loose naval heritage to this rum's recipe. The bottle necks are wrapped with twine and each bottle is individually dipped in black sealing wax with wax tears running down the bottle.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 27/11/2011

Appearance:

Clear, dark reddy-amber.

Aroma:

Chocolate orange and strong cola nose with warmed dates, vanillin and cardamom.

Taste:

Sweet, cardamom, powdered clove and burnt caramel palate with mace and cinnamon. Sweetness checks the relatively high alcohol strength of this spiced rum.

Aftertaste:

Caramel and orange finish with mace, clove, cardamom and peppery spice.
