This straight bourbon whiskey is made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery and was originally launched by Seagram in 1967 as simply Benchmark Bourbon. 'McAfee' was added much later and refers to one Hancock McAfee who, in 1775, was one of the first European settlers where this is now distilled.

The Benchmark brand was purchased by Sazerac, owners of Buffalo Trace Distillery, in 1989.
