Unusually for Highland Park, there is no European oak influence on Leif Eriksson as it was aged in bourbon and American oak sherry casks. A limited edition released in 2010, exclusively available through travel retail.

The name celebrates Leif Eriksson a Norseman born in Iceland circa AD970 who sailed his longship across the North Atlantic to establish settlements in Labrador and Newfoundland - the first European to reach America.

Review and Tasting

Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Clear, golden yellow.

Aroma:

Honeyed, orange blossom, vanilla nose with spicy dry oak and a wisp of smoke.

Taste:

Delicate peat smoke influenced soft palate with vanillered sweet barley pop-corn like notes.

Aftertaste:

Lightly spiced, slightly vegetal, delicately smoky finish. Not at all your classic Highland Park but a tasty departure to look for on your way to the gate.
