Launched February 2012, Cromartieis the third in Dalmore’s series named after the “spiritual heartland” of the Mackenzie clan with the proceeds being used to help restore Castle Leod, 14 miles from the Dalmore distillery and owned by the Mackenzie clan, also once the owners of the distillery.

The Dalmore Mackenzie Cromartie is first aged in American oak before being transferred to Gonzalez Byass oloroso sherry casks. The packaging features extracts from a 1762 government map depicting the lands of Cromartie, one of the ‘rebel estates’ mapped. The release is limited to 7,500 bottles.

Appearance:

Clear, coppery golden with bright bronze highlights.

Aroma:

Unctuous dark chocolate, tree bark, coffee and bergamot nose with faint lemon grass and cinnamon spice.

Taste:

Drinking chocolate cacao powder, espresso coffee, sweet sherry with madeira like eucalyptus notes, orange marmalade and bark-like woodiness.

Aftertaste:

Strong mocha coffee with lingering bitter cacao and dungy notes.
