Bols has been making aromatic peppermint liqueurs since the 19th century and from the 20th century onwards until the current bottle was launched, Bols Peppermint was bottled in the recognisable teardrop-shaped bottles.

The only different between Bols Peppermint Green and Bols Peppermint White is their colour, both are made using fresh mint leaves and in French both could be described as 'crème de menthe'.
