First brewed in 1985, this Belgium strong pale ale from Dolle Brouwers (Mad Brewers) replaces their former blond ale called Oeral. Ara is a bread of macaw parrot, hence the colourful cartoon-like label. Generously hopped and dry hopped using locally grown Nugget hops.

Appearance:

Cloudy, sandy amber with thick, long lasting white head and spotted lacing.

Aroma:

Doughy yet crusty French baguette spread honey, rosemary and slightly earthy pear skin.

Taste:

Full bodied and very complex. Dry and malty with light black pepper spice, earthy herbal flavours, citrus and not quite ripe conference pear.

Aftertaste:

Malty with lingering herbs and spices.
