This gins use of the term 'Navy Strength' and its high 57% alc./vol. strength references the historical 'proof' strength for alcohol, derived as being the strength at which gunpowder would still light when doused with the alcohol. 'Tot', a British measure for alcohol also nods to Navy strength roots
According to the back label, "Matthew Calbraith Perry served as Commandant of the Brooklyn Navy Yard from 1841-43. As early as 1833 he was instrumental in founding its Naval Lyceum to 'promote the diffusion of useful knowledge – and cement the link which unite professional bretheren.'

Crystal clear.
Pungent spruce and lavender jump from an alluring nose with nutty balsa wood-like angelica, parma violets, cold stewed tea and zesty citrus.
The high strength appears to lock this gins flavours together which explode in the mouth with clean peppery spirit attack. Like its Dorothy Parker sibling, Perry's Tot has classic London Dry cues with delicate juniper and judiciously added extra contemporary complexity.
Nutty juniper and spice finish.
