Launched as one of two limited releases, one smoky (TR-06)the other lightly sherried (#00-V4), by Compass Box in September 2013. Following feedback from drinkers in January 2014 the company will announce which of the two blends will become a permanent edition to Great King Street.

Batch #TR-06 (the smoky one with the blue label) is a release of 3,805 bottles blended from 33% Lowland grain whisky and 67% malt whisky from Islay, Speyside and the Highlands. Mostly first-fill ex-bourbon barrels with a finish in new French oak. Bottled without chill filtration or added colour.

Sampled on 24/11/2013

Appearance:

Clear, pale golden amber.

Aroma:

Salty sea air, vegetal seaweed and light smoke with leather, chalk, crushed mint leaves and white grapefruit zest.

Taste:

Salty and peaty with lightly sweet creamy orchard fruit.

Aftertaste:

Lingering salty cream malt with a wisp of smoke.
