Debuting in Singapore in March 2007, Absolut 100 was launched exclusively in the duty free/global travel retail market. This 100 proof (50% alc./vol.) vodka is presented in a minimalist, opaque shiny black bottle chrome silver and grey detailing to appeal to masculine audience.

Taking its name from its 100 proof strength, this high-strength line extension was launched to replace Absolut Red, essentially the same product but this had almost identical packaging to the 40% blue but with a 50% abv and red livery.

In a tale of two centenaries, Absolut was launched in 1979 in the now recognisable bottle 100 years after Lars Olsson Smith introduced his original 'Absolut rent brännvin', the vodka from which the Absolut brand was founded. Selfridges department store in London also celebrated its centenary in 2009 as the Oxford Street store founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge first opened its doors on 15 March 1909.

The clever marketing folk at V&S never miss an opportunity and so produced a Selfridges branded yellow plastic sleeve to cover their Absolut 100 bottle, which of course is exclusively available from Selfridges.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 01/05/2011

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Taste:

Absolut, albeit with a bit more kick, so expect a palate with lightly peppery, malty, bready notes followed by a slight hint of dried fruit and liquorice.
