Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/12/2016

Appearance:

Clear (but not bright), coppery amber.

Aroma:

Black cherry, maraschino, vanilla, nutmeg, raisin and black pepper.

Taste:

Rye spice, pencil shaving woodiness, nutmeg and black pepper spice, rich black cherry, vanilla and candied fruit.

Aftertaste:

Vanilla, cherry, black pepper spice and lingering rooty bitterness.

Overall:

Put this bottle in the fridge and pour into a chilled glass or ice-filled glass and you’ll have yourself a very enjoyable lazy man’s Sweet Manhattan. Forget to chill ahead of time and end up stirring with ice to chill and you’ll end up with a disappointingly dilute drink. We also enjoyed Jefferson’s The Manhattan at room temperature straight from the bottle – but then again, we were brought up drinking British ale at “cellar temperature” rather than cold beer.
