Produced in April 2018 by Partridges in partnership with Dunnet Bay, this is the second year the London grocer and has produced a gin to celebrate The Chelsea Flower Show (hence the No.2 in the name), and handily its release coincides with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal nuptials.

A London Dry Gin, Partridges’ say their Wedding Special Gin is infused with bergamot and has notes of citrus, coriander and vanilla. Partridges Managing Director John Shepherd said: “Gin is a quintessential British drink and as a royal warrant holder to HM The Queen, we are honoured to launch the new No.2 Chelsea Flower Gin to celebrate the wedding of her grandson Prince Harry to Meghan Markle and send all our best wishes to the happy couple.”

This limited-edition bottle, is hand-filled, numbered by hand and sealed with wax.

Partridges original Chelsea Flower Gin was launched in 2017 and contains 19 botanicals including rose petals, marigold, verbena, cassia bark and juniper.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

A particularly floral nose with pungent, bergamot, rose and lavender over piney juniper and balsawood-like angelica/faint clean stables, with citrus and vanilla.

Taste:

Floral notes continue with rose (grannies soap) and more forceful piney and black pepper juniper.

Aftertaste:

Cracked black pepper, piney juniper and floral rose.

Overall:

Peppery spice and piney juniper soften by floral rose – perhaps a tad too floral for some but apt for both a flower show and to celebrate a wedding.
